Requirements
- State of Florida Clinical Laboratory License (Medical Technologist or Public Health Licensure).
- Knowledge of terminology, principles, and techniques used in analysis and testing.
- Knowledge of procedures, techniques, and equipment used in laboratory testing and analysis.
- Skill in the use of laboratory equipment.
- Ability to work independently and to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of fluorescent microscopy and rabies testing procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex medical laboratory tests for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
- Coordinate workflow and provide technical support in Microbiology, including result review and reporting.
- Oversee and perform quality control and quality assurance documentation, including control procedures.
- Participate in laboratory proficiency testing and follow BOL/DOH safety guidelines.
- Remove brain from animals for rabies testing and examine using fluorescent microscopy and other staining techniques.
- Respond to on-call requirements during weekend or holiday hours for rabies testing.
- Maintain effective documentation, data records, inventory of supplies, and discard medical waste per biowaste protocol.
