Your daily responsibilities include checking unverified laboratory results for accuracy and investigating unexpected abnormal results. You will perform operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory analyzers and equipment, monitor quality control results, and ensure specimen integrity. You also assist at bone marrow collections and process in-house and send-out test requests.

Requirements

Medical laboratory technologist with CSMLS certification
Current registration with CMLTO in good standing
Minimum two years recent hematology experience in a hospital laboratory setting, or successful completion of all relevant education within the past two years
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and maintain high level of productivity, competence and professionalism
Able to evaluate and analyze information to facilitate continuous improvement of the laboratory process in the interest of quality patient care
Strong multi-tasking, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Proven ability to be a team player with strong interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

Check unverified laboratory results for accuracy prior to verification and investigate unexpected abnormal or spurious results according to laboratory policies
Perform operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory analyzers and equipment
Monitor quality control results and respond appropriately to discordant results
Ensure specimen collection, integrity, transport and storage is appropriate for sample processing and analysis
Refer discordant findings to appropriate personnel for further follow-up
Assist at bone marrow collections; check specimen for acceptability; process in-house and send-out test requests
Actively participate in the laboratory quality management system and process improvements
Perform other procedures and duties as assigned
