About this role

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, an independent nonprofit and the only NCI-designated cancer center in Washington, seeks a Registered Dietitian I for per diem clinical support. This role manages nutrition monitoring, support, and education for all clinic patient populations, including Hematopoietic Cell Transplant and General Oncology patients.

Day-to-day responsibilities include screening and assessing nutritional status, coordinating enteral and parenteral nutrition support, and providing individual and group education to patients and caregivers. The dietitian documents medical nutrition care in the medical record according to best practice standards and attends interdisciplinary team rounds and case conferences.

This position works closely with oncology providers and partner institutions to ensure continuity of care across systems. The team environment is collaborative and research-driven, with opportunities to contribute to nutrition data collection for clinical research protocols and participate in collaborative projects.

As a per diem team member, you will gain exposure to cutting-edge cancer treatment and groundbreaking research while supporting patients through their treatment journey. This role offers a variable Monday-through-Friday schedule at the South Lake Union Campus.

Requirements

4-year college degree in nutrition or related field.
1-2 years' experience counseling individuals and families.
Experience working with oncology patients.
Registered Dietitian (RD) credential.
Licensure as a dietitian in the state of Washington or eligibility.
Knowledge of medical nutrition therapy, including enteral and parenteral nutrition support.
Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary medical teams and maintain written and verbal communications.

Responsibilities

Screen and assess nutritional status of all Hematopoietic Cell Transplant (HCT) patients on admission and at designated intervals.
Provide nutrition assessment and counseling for General Oncology patients based on nutrition risk determination.
Coordinate medical nutrition therapy, including enteral and parenteral feeding practices.
Document medical nutrition care in the medical record according to best practice standards.
Educate patients and caregivers through individual counseling and group education appropriate to patient age.
Attend HCT and General Oncology clinic team rounds, case conferences, and patient care meetings.
Collaborate with partner institutions to ensure continuity of care across systems.
Assist with nutrition data collection for research protocols and participate in collaborative research projects.
