Speech Therapist

This position establishes skilled speech treatment plans for residents and conducts comprehensive speech therapy services, including symbolic language, dysphasia, aphasia, voice treatment, and communication assistive devices. The therapist works cooperatively with interdisciplinary team members to design integrated plans and provide supportive documentation.

Day-to-day activities include completing initial evaluations and re-certifications, reviewing medical records to collect relevant data, and interviewing clients, staff, and families. The therapist ensures all assessments are completed within established timeframes and forwards cost information to appropriate sources.

This role provides direction and training for speech-related services implemented by non-speech staff, delivers in-service training to departmental staff, and attends all mandatory training. The therapist also participates in department meetings, conducts meetings as assigned, and maintains clean, safe, and orderly work environments.

Opportunities for growth include supervising Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidates according to ASHA regulations, serving on committees as designated, and recommending purchases of new equipment. The therapist assists with additional activities as assigned by the Director of Rehabilitation.
