Sanford Health seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician or Scientist responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing. The role supports the largest rural health system in the United States with 35 scheduled weekly hours on 10-hour evening shifts.

Daily work follows standard operating procedures while ensuring laboratory safety, quality, and regulatory requirements are met. The position performs testing that directly informs patient care decisions across the enterprise.

This role serves as a laboratory resource to other health care personnel and collaborates with departments throughout the organization. It requires critical and independent judgment in decision-making and problem-solving on a routine basis.

Opportunities exist to maintain professional certifications and continuing education credits aligned with state requirements. The position may also require Basic Life Support certification depending on assignment.

Requirements

Associate's degree in Laboratory Science or Bachelor's degree in laboratory or biological sciences required
Possess national certification for MLT/CLT or MLS/MT through an approved HHS agency such as ASCP, or be registry eligible
Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment
Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to state requirements as needed for license and certifications
May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Responsibilities

Follow standard operating procedures and ensure laboratory safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met
Serve as a laboratory resource to other health care personnel
