Our Laboratory Services Department uses state-of-the-art equipment, technology, and processes to test clinical specimens. Medical Laboratory Technologists assist physicians in diagnosing and treating disease by performing tests on tissue, blood, and body fluids. Inter-professional teams use this information to diagnose, treat, and prevent disease.

Team members interact effectively with physicians, co-workers, and other health care professionals. We make technology work for staff, giving more time with patients and reducing errors. The department supports routine and stat testing in Chemistry, Hematology, and Blood Bank.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Current registration as General Medical Laboratory Technologist with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)
  • 3-5 years of recent Clinical Laboratory experience an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively alone or with team members, physicians, and other health care professionals
  • Excellent attendance and discipline-free record required
  • Understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices an asset

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and stat laboratory testing in Core Laboratory - Chemistry, Hematology, and Blood Bank
  • Conduct phlebotomy, central processing, and other related duties as assigned
  • Assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment by performing tests on tissue, blood, and other body fluids
  • Operate state-of-the-art equipment for clinical specimen analysis
  • Be assigned and trained in all Core Laboratory disciplines including Chemistry, Blood Bank, and Hematology
