About this role
LabCorp is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Ascension Saint Thomas Three Rivers Hospital in Waverly, TN. This role is essential to delivering quality patient care through accurate and timely laboratory testing.
Working the 3rd shift on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 6:30 PM to 7:30 AM, you will determine the acceptability of specimens and perform routine to complex technical procedures. You will monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality in a clinical core laboratory setting.
You will prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls while performing and documenting preventive maintenance and quality control procedures. The role involves reporting accurate test results, identifying and replenishing testing bench supplies, and assisting with specimen processing when needed.
This position offers the opportunity to work independently and within a team environment, making technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving. You will maintain a safe work environment by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
- 1 year or more of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in a clinical core laboratory, specializing in hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis testing
- ASCP or AMT certification
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Proficient with computers
- In lieu of education requirements, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirement
Responsibilities
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
- Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
- Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
- Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls
- Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
- Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary and assist with processing of specimens when needed
