About this role
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking a Physical/Occupational Therapist and Ergonomist to provide physical rehabilitation and ergonomic support for occupational injuries. This role applies moderately complex ergonomic concepts across office, home office, and non-office environments within the Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) Directorate.
You will independently deliver physical or occupational therapy services to employees with work-related musculoskeletal injuries, focusing on the shoulder, elbow, forearm, wrist, and hand. Additionally, you will perform ergonomic risk assessments, support disability case management, and contribute to injury causal analysis efforts.
This position collaborates with ES&H professionals, programmatic stakeholders, and the Ergonomics Program Manager to identify ergonomic risk factors. You will also participate in multidisciplinary case management meetings and help develop presentations, trainings, and educational handouts for the ergonomics program.
LLNL offers a hybrid schedule with the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week after a probationary period. This role provides an opportunity to make a tangible impact on employee health and safety within a mission-driven national security laboratory.
Requirements
- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Bachelor’s degree in physical or occupational therapy.
- Current license as a physical or occupational therapist in the State of California.
- Minimum of 5 years licensed as a physical or occupational therapist.
- Minimum of 2 years outpatient orthopedics experience in the treatment and management of acute and cumulative trauma disorders, and industrial post-op rehabilitation.
- Experience with early intervention and occupational activity analysis relating to office, home office, and non-office tasks.
- Experience with performing office, home office, and non-office ergonomic assessments.
- Experience with developing training, procedures, or reports for a wider audience and speaking to small and large groups effectively.
Responsibilities
- Provide physical rehabilitation services based on licensure to employees with musculoskeletal injuries, typically including shoulder, elbow, forearm, wrist, and hand.
- Work independently and provide physical/occupational services to employees with work-related injuries.
- Independently perform moderate-complex ergonomic assessments for office, home office, and non-office environments.
- Provide ergonomic and self-care support services for employees enrolled in the Early Intervention Program.
- Perform ergonomic risk assessments to support disability case management and injury causal analysis efforts.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case management meetings involving ergonomic case management issues.
- Participate in the development and delivery of presentations, trainings, and educational handouts within the ergonomics program and institutionally.
- Collaborate with ES&H professionals, programmatic stakeholders, and the Ergonomics Program Manager to identify ergonomic risk factors contributing to work-related injuries.
