About this role
This per diem Registered Dietitian supports the Director of Dietary in maintaining essential patient services on an as-needed basis at Aurora San Diego. The role involves assessing and documenting professional and technical competencies for other dietitians as part of the annual competency assessment.
Day-to-day, the dietitian provides clinical nutrition services to the inpatient population according to facility policies and procedures. In the absence of the Director, the dietitian may direct and deliver quality food and nutrition services under appropriate clinical supervision to support patient care.
The dietitian works closely with physicians and other healthcare personnel to determine nutritional needs and dietary restrictions, and oversees the provision of food of the quality and quantity to meet patient needs in accordance with physician orders. The role is accountable to the Director of Dietary Services, medical staff, and administration.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to patient care in a hospital setting while maintaining a flexible schedule of 2 to 3 days per week for 2 to 3 hours per day. The role supports professional growth through participation in treatment planning and compliance with hospital policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nutrition
- Registered Dietitian (RD) credential
- Current credential with the Commission of Dietetic Registration
- Ability to work 2 to 3 days per week for 2 to 3 hours per day, including weekends and weekdays
- Knowledge of clinical nutrition standards and the ability to apply RDAs to patient care
- Ability to work independently and in the absence of the Director when needed
Responsibilities

- Comply with all hospital policies and procedures
