About this role

The Occupational Therapist provides competent evaluation and treatment for patients with difficulties in mobility, cognition, function, and activities of daily living. This role communicates with families, physicians, and health team members while maintaining professional documentation in accordance with AOTA scope of practice.

The OT evaluates patients within 24 to 48 hours of physician orders and develops effective treatment plans. They treat patients according to the plan, supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and discharge planning, while recording notes and completing daily billing.

Requirements

Valid Occupational Therapist licensure in accordance with state laws and AOTA scope of practice.
Strong relationship skills and interpersonal skills.
High emotional intelligence.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
Problem-solving, analytical, and critical evaluation skills.

Ability to supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants in clinical service delivery.
Competent, courteous, and respectful approach to patient evaluation and treatment.

Responsibilities

Evaluate patients for rehabilitation services within 24 to 48 hours of physician’s orders.
Develop effective treatment plans.
Treat patients according to the treatment plan of care.
Supervise the Occupational Therapy Assistant in the delivery of clinical services.
Communicate with physicians, clinical managers and other health team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.
Participate in patient Plan of Care Meetings and Interdisciplinary Team Meetings.
Record treatment notes, progress notes, provide objective input for discharge summaries, and complete daily billing of services per policy and procedure.
Instruct patient’s families or nursing staff in maintenance programs.
