This PRN position in the ICE LPSL CPATH Chemistry department offers 14 hours per week of varied shift work. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist I, you will perform routine and specialized testing in the clinical chemistry laboratory, ensuring accurate and timely results.

You will work alongside a dedicated team of laboratory professionals in a fast-paced hospital setting. The role involves operating automated analyzers, performing quality control, and maintaining equipment to support patient diagnosis and treatment.

This temporary position provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in a leading academic medical center. You will contribute to meaningful patient care while collaborating with clinicians and other lab staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by ASCP or equivalent
  • Eligibility for certification may be considered for recent graduates
  • Knowledge of clinical chemistry principles and laboratory practices
  • Ability to work a variable shift and commit to 14 hours per week
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and specialized chemistry laboratory tests on patient samples
  • Operate and maintain automated chemistry analyzers and laboratory equipment
  • Conduct quality control procedures and ensure accuracy of test results
  • Document and report laboratory findings in accordance with protocols
  • Assist in troubleshooting instrument issues and performing preventive maintenance
  • Follow safety and infection control guidelines in the laboratory environment
  • Support the chemistry team during peak workload periods as a PRN staff member
