About this role
As Medical Records Director at Avamere Rehab of Burien, you will oversee the collection, auditing, indexing, and filing of medical records and health information. You will ensure procedures are upheld for resident chart management and data entry.
Your day-to-day involves reviewing discharges and records on nursing units, collecting and assembling resident charts, and maintaining an atmosphere of warmth and calm. You will also perform data entry and uphold confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
You will work within an interdisciplinary team in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting, collaborating to ensure accurate health information management. The environment emphasizes patient-centered care and requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Requirements
- Associate's degree from an accredited community or junior college.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in medical records management, preferably in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting.
- Graduate of an approved course for medical records technicians.
- Familiarity with IT and EMR systems; experience with Point Click Care preferred.
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Ability to communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Uphold procedures for collection, auditing, indexing, and filing/retrieving of medical records and health information.
- Review discharges and other records on nursing units.
- Collect, assemble, check, and file resident charts.
- Create and uphold an atmosphere of warmth, patience, enthusiasm, and a calm and cheerful environment.
- Perform data entry for medical records.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements for resident health information.
- Oversee the accuracy and completeness of medical records documentation.
