About this role
Mercy Home for Children is recruiting for a full-time Electronic Medical Records Associate to work in an OPWDD setting. This position reports directly to the Chief Compliance Officer and will populate and maintain Mercy Home’s electronic record systems in compliance with OPWDD regulations.
The Electronic Medical Records Associate will spend approximately 75% of their time coordinating the day-to-day operations of the EHR system (Therap) and assisting with the transition to the new Precision Care system. This includes providing on-site training to users and offering support in person, via computer, and over the phone.
The remaining 25% of the role involves clerical support to the training and compliance department, presenting at the Incident Review Committee, and supporting IRMA compliance. The associate works closely with program management, clinical staff, day program habilitation staff, and entry-level staff to provide technical assistance and ensure quality programming.
This position offers the opportunity to work alongside the EHR liaison to learn new modules and implement them at Mercy Home. The associate also represents the Quality Improvement Department by promoting and modeling the mission and core values of the Sisters of Mercy and Mercy Home.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree preferred.
- Valid New York State Driver’s License preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience with OPWDD services required (hospital coverage will not count).
- Experience with electronic health records (Therap or Precision Care systems) required.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with individuals with intellectual disabilities and dual diagnoses, co-workers, and the general public.
Responsibilities
- Participate in EHR training sessions, working closely with the EHR liaison to learn new modules and apply knowledge at Mercy Home.
- Ensure Mercy Home is in compliance with OPWDD regulations and trainings, implementing support to the various programs that use EHR.
- Establish a schedule for ongoing technical assistance to departments using EHR, including visiting multiple sites and training in the computer lab.
- Manage user access to the EHR by providing passwords and usernames for new employees and disabling accounts for those who no longer need access.
- Work closely with program and billing departments to ensure all components are in place for accurate, compliant, and expedited billing.
- Conduct periodic analysis of the database to ensure it is accurate and up to date.
- Assist in the management of Mercy Home’s incidents in IRMA and provide clerical support to the Training and Compliance Departments as requested.
