About this role

This role is responsible for delivering comprehensive patient care through the nursing process across the preoperative, interoperative, and postoperative phases of surgical patients. As a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room, you will assess physiological and psychosocial health status, establish nursing diagnoses, and formulate tailored plans of care.

Day-to-day responsibilities include completing patient histories, documenting information legibly in patient records, and verbally reporting pertinent details to ensure continuity of care. You will implement nursing care plans, adjust them based on patient and family data, and anticipate surgeons' needs during surgical procedures.

You will work under the supervision of the Director of Nursing in a clinical environment that emphasizes accountability, flexibility, and safe judgment. The role requires adherence to legal and ethical guidelines including the Nurse Practice Act, ANA code for Nurses, and JCAHO regulations.

This position offers the opportunity to participate in a professional nursing organization and to continually refine your skills in aseptic technique, surgical case counting, and emergency response. Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Current Registered Nurse License
Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications
Demonstrates current, comprehensive professional knowledge and skills in conformance with recognized nursing standards
Ability to assess pain per policy and identify desired patient outcomes
Demonstrates proper patient identification verification and surgical site identification per policy
Ability to perform nursing actions that demonstrate accountability, flexibility, and safe judgment

Responsibilities

Deliver patient care through the nursing process in preoperative, interoperative, and postoperative phases

Implement and continually adjust nursing care plans tailored to patient and family needs

Anticipate surgeon's needs during surgical procedures and respond to emergencies
Document information legibly in patient records and sign using appropriate professional title
Participate in a professional nursing organization and practice within legal and ethical guidelines
