About this role

As a Clinical Dietitian with Vancouver Coastal Health at Richmond Hospital, you will work within a patient and family centred care model to provide clinical dietetic services. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nutritional goals and care plans for patients in the Diabetes Education program.

Your day-to-day involves providing recommendations for oral and/or enteral nutrition support regimes based on thorough assessment and treatment modalities. You will collaborate with the interdisciplinary health care team and participate in practice-based research projects to advance patient outcomes.

You will join a supportive team environment that values professional standards and the vision of Vancouver Coastal Health. The role requires operating a computerized patient information system and facilitating patient education classes to empower individuals in managing their nutrition.

This position offers the opportunity to apply your clinical expertise in a hospital setting while contributing to research and quality improvement initiatives. You will work autonomously and collaboratively, with mentorship available for competency development in enteral nutrition.

Requirements

Current full registration as a Dietitian with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
Restricted Activities A and/or C, with demonstrated competency in designing, compounding, dispensing, and administering enteral nutrition.
Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes, as required.
Knowledge of clinical dietetic theory and practice within a patient and family centred model of care.
Knowledge of enteral nutrition and standards of practice established by CHCPBC.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with patients, families, and the health care team.
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work, and to problem-solve and think critically.
Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position and skill in operating related equipment.

Responsibilities

Provide clinical dietetic services to patients through assessment, planning, implementing, and outcome evaluation of nutritional goals and care plans.
Make recommendations based on assessment and treatment modalities regarding oral and/or enteral nutrition support regimes.
Collaborate with members of the health care team and participate in practice-based research projects.
Facilitate patient and group education classes to support self-management of nutrition.
Plan and implement nutrition care plans in relation to patient and family priorities.
Operate a computerized patient information system to document and track patient care.
Demonstrate ability to adjust to new or unexpected events and deal effectively with conflict situations.
