About this role
Kent Hospital, an affiliate of the Care New England Health System, is seeking an ICU Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our collaborative team in Warwick, Rhode Island. It is a 359-bed acute care facility and the largest community hospital in Rhode Island. Primary responsibility is managing a caseload of critically ill complex patients in the ICU unit (14 beds) or PRG Unit (10 beds).
The Advanced Practice Provider delivers comprehensive, high-acuity medical care to critically ill patients. This role involves collaboration with intensivists, physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams. The APP performs advanced procedures and ensures optimal patient outcomes through evidence-based care.
Join a team of 9 critical care advanced practitioners supported by Pulmonary Critical Care attending physicians. Practice is 100% clinical, seeing an average of 15 patients per day including inpatient management and consults. Shifts are 1-2 12-hour periods per month, covering days and nights in ICU and step down unit.

Requirements
- Nurse Practitioner (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA)
- 1+ years of ICU experience preferred
- Ability to provide high-acuity care in critical care setting
- Proficiency in managing critically ill complex patients
- Competence in performing ICU procedures such as central lines and intubations
- Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary critical care teams
Responsibilities
- Manage caseload of critically ill complex patients in ICU unit (14 beds) or PRG Unit (10 beds)
- Provide comprehensive high-acuity medical care to critically ill patients
- Collaborate with intensivists, physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams
- Deliver evidence-based care and ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Perform advanced procedures including intubations, central lines, lumbar punctures, thoracentesis, arterial lines
- Handle inpatient management for average 3-4 patients per day
- Manage consults for average 12 patients per day
