Gerber Med Surg features 13 beds, with 4 observation and 9 inpatient. The unit is undergoing a refresh including new paint, flooring, artwork, nurse's station, breakroom, and staff bathroom. It serves the hospital's largest patient population as a cornerstone facility.

Gerber ICU has 11 beds, including 2 observation and 9 inpatient, as a mixed unit for Med/Surg and ICU patients. Both units offer telemedicine in pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, and wound, with palliative care services coming soon. On-site services include MRI six days a week, CT, fluoroscopy, general and orthopedic surgery, care management, and medical social workers.

Nurse Technicians act as team members in quality patient care delivery under Registered Nurse supervision. Responsibilities encompass taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization, and serving as safety attendants. Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days
Demonstrates high standard of moral and ethical behavior
Advocates for privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient, staff, and organization data
Ability to work under supervision of Registered Nurse
Experience assisting with patient care activities

Responsibilities

Take patient vitals
Check blood sugars
Perform bed bathing
Ambulate patients
Provide wound care
Perform catheterization
Act as safety attendant for patients
Clean patient’s environment, work area, and equipment
Communicate equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel
