About this role

Nemours Children's Health is seeking an Occupational Therapist for a full-time outpatient pediatric position in a hospital-based setting. Cross coverage to acute care and inpatient rehab is provided with training.

The schedule consists of Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday 10-hour days, with Saturday hours from 8:00am to 2:00pm. A holiday rotation is required, typically covering one holiday per year.

Located in Orlando, Florida, Nemours Children's Hospital is a 130-bed pediatric facility with the region's only 24-hour Emergency Department designed for children. The hospital blends the healing power of nature with innovative healthcare to deliver world-class care.

The role includes opportunities for staff development, clinical education, and mentoring of occupational therapy students and new staff. Participation in professional organizations, community outreach, and interdisciplinary collaboration is encouraged.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy required.
Florida State License to practice Occupational Therapy required.
American Heart Association BLS Certification required upon hire.
Minimum of three months experience required; new graduates considered based on educational experiences.
Member of professional specialty organizations (AOTA, FOTA) preferred.
Proficiency in pediatric occupational therapy for patients ages birth to 21 years.

Responsibilities

Provide occupational therapy evaluation, treatment, and consultation to pediatric patients under physician prescription and within departmental policies.
Demonstrate competency in pediatric occupational therapy as per department clinical competencies.
Assist in mentoring affiliating occupational therapy students, new staff, support personnel, and volunteers.
Participate in program development activities to increase program use, awareness, and marketing.
Work collaboratively with other departments and specialties as an interdisciplinary team member.
Complete timely documentation as required by departmental policy and Joint Commission/CARF standards.
Maintain knowledge of insurance referral/authorization processes and documentation requirements for therapy services.
