About this role
Rhode Island Medical Imaging is seeking a Radiographer/X-Ray Technologist to perform radiographic procedures using ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. Under the direction of the Lead Technologist, this role produces high-quality images for interpretation by licensed healthcare professionals. The technologist ensures appropriate patient care and maintains the best possible patient flow and throughput at all times.
Daily responsibilities include receiving and greeting patients, obtaining medical history, and providing procedure instructions. The technologist corroborates clinical history with the procedure, ensures accurate documentation, and evaluates images for technical quality, coordinating with radiologists as needed. They also operate equipment according to established routines and perform quality control procedures.
The technologist works closely with referring physicians, radiologists, and fellow employees to ensure efficient operation. They assist other technologists and educate students and other health care providers, fostering a collaborative environment. The role requires maintaining cleanliness of work areas and ordering supplies to ensure continuous unit operation.
Rhode Island Medical Imaging offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus and 100% financial support for Mammography Certification. Schooling takes place during regularly scheduled shifts, providing a clear path for career advancement within the organization. Requirements
- ARRT certification in Radiography (or eligibility) required.
- State of Rhode Island radiography license or ability to obtain.
- BLS certification required.
- Knowledge of radiation protection and safety standards, including ALARA principles.
- Proficiency in radiographic positioning and exposure techniques.
- Understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Ability to work Monday-Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM in East Greenwich, RI.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate an understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
- Maintain a high degree of accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure technique.
- Apply principles of ALARA to minimize radiation exposure to patient, self, and others.
- Receive and greet patients, obtain necessary medical history, and provide procedure instructions.
- Corroborate patient’s clinical history with the procedure and ensure accurate documentation.
- Evaluate images for technical quality and coordinate with radiologists as needed.
- Operate equipment according to established routines and perform quality control procedures.
- Assist other technologists and maintain supplies to ensure continuous unit operation.
