About this role

In this role, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for individual pediatric patients and their families at CHEO. You will work in a collaborative environment focused on family-centered care. The hospital is recognized as a global leader in pediatric health.

You will effectively use the nursing process to guide patient care and provide appropriate learning experiences for patients and families to promote wellness. You are accountable for maintaining competence and developing the quality of your professional nursing practice, practicing according to College of Nurses of Ontario and hospital standards.

Requirements

Current Certification of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (Essential)
Current CPR Certification (Essential)
Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills (Essential)
Demonstrated culturally sensitive approach to nursing care (Essential)
Demonstrated strong family centered care skills (Essential)
Minimum 2 years pediatric experience or other appropriate combinations of education and experience (Preferred)
Baccalaureate Degree of Nursing (Preferred)

Responsibilities

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for individual patients and families.
Effectively use the nursing process to guide all aspects of patient care.
Practice according to the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Hospital, and the patient service unit.
Provide appropriate learning experiences for the patient and family to promote or maintain wellness and achieve an optimal quality of life.
Maintain accountability for competence while developing the quality of professional nursing practice.
Demonstrate a culturally sensitive approach to nursing care for diverse populations.
Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and monitor patient responses.
