About this role
This is a 6-month assignment with a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with no on-call requirements. Candidates should be available to start as soon as possible. The role is responsible for assessing, formulating a plan of care, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for the assigned patient population.
Day-to-day duties include performing patient assessments in a systematic and organized manner to provide high quality care and safe outcomes. The nurse will exercise autonomy when needed to make decisions in the best interest of the patient, and will educate and implement the patient's plan of care in partnership with the patient and family.
As a leader and collaborator, the nurse works with multidisciplinary departments to coordinate appropriate care for endoscopy patients in the most efficient and highest quality manner. The role follows all relevant specialty, federal recommendations, and hospital policies and procedures, and participates in perioperative services nursing and hospital wide Performance Improvement activities.
Good Samaritan is a 4-time designated Magnet facility, TJC Primary Stroke Center, and Level III Trauma Center with over 115 years of dedicated healthcare in southwest Indiana and Illinois. Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Registered Nurse license from the Indiana State Board of Nursing.
- Graduate of an RN program.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments in a systematic and organized manner to provide high quality care and safe outcomes.
- Formulate, implement, and evaluate the patient's plan of care, sharing education with the patient and family.
- Communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary departments to coordinate appropriate care for endoscopy patients.
- Follow all relevant specialty, federal recommendations, and hospital policies and procedures when caring for patients.
- Participate in perioperative services nursing and hospital wide Performance Improvement activities and Unit Based Council.
- Provide direction and collaborate with team members to support a healthy work environment.
- Pursue lifelong education by staying current on professional changes and best practices within the health care system.
- Be responsible for FTE hours and maintain financial responsibility to help stay within the unit's budget.
