About this role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our oncology team at The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, a trusted community-based practice serving patients in Baltimore, Bethesda, and Germantown, Maryland for over 25 years. In this role, you will provide exceptional patient care while administering life-saving cancer treatments in a supportive, patient-centered environment.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include safely and accurately administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive care, and non-oncologic agents as ordered by providers, following ONS standards and guidelines. You will also perform thorough patient assessments, review labs and vital signs, ensure medication safety and dose verification, and provide triage care when necessary.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of experts who deliver the latest therapies, access to over 300 clinical trials, and state-of-the-art diagnostics—all with a patient-first approach. The practice offers comprehensive services including on-site infusion therapy, a specialty pharmacy with home delivery, and supportive care such as wellness programs, nutrition guidance, and financial counseling.

Requirements

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland
Clinical strength and detail orientation in oncology or infusion nursing
Ability to safely handle and dispose of biohazardous waste per OSHA and NIOSH guidelines
Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems for documentation
Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) credential preferred (additional $2.25/hr. for active OCN)
Ability to follow Job Breakdown Instructions (JBIs) associated with the role
Passion for educating and supporting patients throughout their treatment journey

Responsibilities

Safely and accurately administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive care, and non-oncologic agents to patients as ordered by providers, using ONS standards and guidelines
Perform patient assessment, review of labs and vital signs, medication safety, dose verification, and drug administration
Provide triage care when necessary and communicate patient condition effectively to multidisciplinary team members
Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects, and planned treatment course in a caring, professional manner
Document thoroughly, accurately, and timely in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) of treatment rendered to patients
Ensure appropriate charges are captured by following guidelines for appropriate administration of all medications and activities
Follow proper patient identification per Job Breakdown Instructions (JBIs) for all patient encounters
Prioritize incoming calls and messages from patients, family members, hospitals, and nursing facilities for telephone triage
