About this role

Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for an Occupational Therapist to join the Rehabilitation Services team at Bella Coola Hospital in Bella Coola, BC. Come work as an Occupational Therapist with VCH. Relocation Assistance may be available.

Provide occupational therapy services to acute inpatients, long term care residents and community clients to achieve quality client-focused care. Identify and assess client’s occupational performance issues utilizing an evidence-based approach. Plan and implement goal-directed services, evaluate effectiveness, and prepare records.

Bella Coola sits in a mountain valley at the head of the North Bentinck Channel with a population of about 1800 people. Bella Coola General Hospital has 10 acute beds, 5 residential beds and a 3-bed emergency department open 24/7. Services include laboratory, diagnostic imaging, Telehealth, Mental Health and Public Health.

Contribute to the organization and delivery of occupational therapy services. Participate in departmental quality assurance initiatives, meetings, research and education. Enable clients to develop healthy patterns of occupations within a client and family-centred model of care.

Requirements

  • Current full registration as an Occupational Therapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC)
  • Degree in Occupational Therapy plus two years’ recent related experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle for local travel
  • Broad knowledge of occupational therapy theory and practice within a client and family-centred model of care
  • Broad knowledge of occupational therapy standardized tests and measures
  • Basic knowledge of evidence-based clinical practice related to designated clinical area
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and clients
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position

Benefits
