The Regional Medical Officer is responsible for clinical operations and all clinical financial outcomes within multiple markets in this field remote role.
This hybrid position requires home visits two days a week, seeing up to five patients in a day, with traditional M-F work hours and no evenings, call, or weekends. The role also involves conducting SNF rounds and managing at least one skilled nursing facility.
The Regional Medical Officer will partner with other Regional Medical Officers, Vice Presidents, and market leaders to lead the start-up and champion the growth of new regions. You will directly manage all Alignment employee physicians in the Fresno and Madera Counties market and represent Alignment as the clinical leader.

Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Hospitalist, Family Practice, or Internal Medicine physician.
- Willingness and ability to conduct home visits (up to five patients per day) two days per week.
- Proven experience managing clinical operations and financial outcomes in a multi-market environment.
- Experience with IPA management and provider network relationships.
- Strong leadership skills with ability to hire, develop, and supervise physicians and clinical management staff.
- Experience in utilization management oversight.
- Ability to analyze and report business performance data to executive leadership.
- Familiarity with skilled nursing facility (SNF) rounds and management.
Responsibilities
- Conduct home visits two days a week (up to five patients per day) in a hybrid role with traditional M-F work hours.
- Directly manage all Alignment employee physicians in the Fresno and Madera Counties market.
- Represent Alignment as the clinical leader of the market and maintain a customer-driven passion for excellence.
- Directly accountable for all clinical outcomes and provide strategic and operational direction for performance-based medical management.
- Manage budget and risk drivers with the regional vice president, and analyze business performance data for the executive team and Board of Directors.
- Oversee IPA management and serve as the relationship holder for assigned markets such as Allcare, Sante Physicians, and Kova.
- Conduct SNF rounds and management at least one skilled nursing facility.
- Hire, develop, and reward staff to effectively support the company's strategy, including recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
