About this role

Provides occupational therapy services as part of the multidisciplinary treatment team to patients primarily in adult and geriatric age groups, with occasional limited pediatric and adolescent patients. May function as clinical instructor for occupational therapy students. Delivers individualized treatment and patient/family education specific to developmental needs.

Evaluates patients to identify problems and define specific, objective, measurable treatment goals. Develops appropriate treatment plans and implements programs using department-standard procedures and techniques. Monitors progress to ensure services meet therapy goals effectively.

Communicates appropriately with referring physicians, patients, and others. Participates in multidisciplinary treatment planning and care. Delegates to and supervises Assistants and Aides appropriately while maintaining a clean, safe work area.

Continues professional development through continuing education and may participate in orientation of new staff, students, and volunteers. Possesses knowledge to assess developmental levels across pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Engages in organization-wide Performance Improvement Program activities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited OT program or equivalent per California OT Board requirements
  • Current CA license as Occupational Therapist or license applicant status
  • Current BLS certification
  • Hospital based experience preferred
  • Knowledge and ability to assess patients from a developmental perspective
  • Knowledge and clinical skills to assess developmental level of pediatric patients
  • Knowledge and clinical skills to assess developmental level of adolescent patients
  • Knowledge and clinical skills necessary to assess the effects of aging on geriatric patients
