About this role

We are seeking a Clinical Instructor in Surgical Pathology—a physician ready to deepen diagnostic expertise while shaping the next generation of pathologists. This position begins as a Clinical Fellow and transitions to Clinical Instructor following evaluation and approval. It balances high-level diagnostic practice with education of medical students, residents, and fellows in Anatomic Pathology service.

Deliver diagnostic excellence by reviewing and signing out cases across subspecialties such as Breast/GYN or Gastrointestinal Pathology. Teach and mentor trainees through lectures, case-based learning, and hands-on supervision. Consult across disciplines as a trusted expert on complex diagnostic challenges.

Work closely with attending pathologists, progressing toward independent sign-out privileges. Demonstrate proficiency in gross examination and specimen evaluation. Present at multidisciplinary conferences, departmental grand rounds, and trainee forums within a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

Develop a personalized program of self-directed study and academic advancement. Engage in a rich educational environment emphasizing clinical excellence and ethical practice. Gain exposure to health equity, cost-conscious care, and medico-legal frameworks while contributing to pathology residency program evolution.

Requirements

  • MD or DO from an accredited institution
  • Completion of ACGME-accredited residency training in Pathology
  • Board eligible or certified in Anatomic Pathology
  • Eligible for or in possession of a New York State medical license
  • Ability to obtain medical staff privileges at Roswell Park

Responsibilities

  • Deliver diagnostic excellence by reviewing and signing out cases across subspecialties such as Breast/GYN or Gastrointestinal Pathology
  • Teach and mentor residents, fellows, and medical students through lectures, case-based learning, and hands-on supervision
  • Consult across disciplines as a trusted expert, guiding colleagues through complex diagnostic challenges
  • Contribute to program excellence by supporting evaluation, curriculum development, and Pathology residency program evolution
  • Work closely with attending pathologists, progressing toward independent sign-out privileges
  • Demonstrate and refine proficiency in gross examination and specimen evaluation
  • Present regularly at multidisciplinary conferences, departmental grand rounds, and trainee forums
  • Participate actively in institutional committees, quality initiatives, and educational program evaluation
