About this role

This per diem RN role supports the Opioid Treatment Program and integrated mental health and substance abuse services at THRIVE Wellness and Recovery, Inc. The RN monitors treatment needs of clients and ensures they are met in accordance with agency policies, state and federal guidelines.

On a daily basis, the RN coordinates medical and behavioral health needs, monitors client well-being, and accurately documents all medical services provided. Responsibilities include managing medication calls from clients and pharmacies, obtaining patient history and vitals, and developing patient care charts to ensure completeness and accuracy.

The RN works closely with nursing staff, medical providers, and the treatment team to develop medical plans of action reflected in the Treatment Plan. This role also involves maintaining the nursing station, conducting daily inventory of methadone and suboxone, and preparing equipment to administer medications like Methadone, Suboxone, and Vivitrol.

This position offers a flexible per diem schedule with at least 8 hours per bi-weekly pay period, Monday-Friday 6am-2pm and Saturday 7am-2pm. The RN must provide availability a month in advance, be available two Saturdays per month, complete quarterly trainings, and work two holidays per year.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in the state of practice
  • Ability to monitor treatment needs of clients in accordance with agency policies and state/federal guidelines
  • Experience with opioid treatment programs or integrated mental health and substance abuse services preferred
  • Knowledge of OASAS regulations, HIPAA, and 42 CFR for maintaining clinical charts
  • Ability to accurately document all medical services and communicate with medical providers and program staff
  • Competency in administering medications including Methadone, Suboxone, and Vivitrol
  • Ability to work a per diem schedule including two Saturdays per month and two holidays per year
  • Must complete quarterly trainings as required

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the medical and behavioral health needs of program clients on a daily basis
  • Monitor the health and well-being of clients and accurately document all medical services provided
  • Manage and respond to medication calls from clients and pharmacies
  • Obtain patient history, take vitals, and develop patient care charts ensuring completeness and accuracy
  • Administer Methadone, Suboxone, and Vivitrol in accordance with all state and federal regulations
  • Conduct daily inventory of methadone and suboxone in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Work with the treatment team to develop the medical plan of action as reflected in the Treatment Plan
  • Conduct toxicology screens and intradermal Tuberculosis tests as clinically appropriate or required by federal law
