About this role
This on-site role at the General Motors Tonawanda, NY plant involves providing emergency care, first aid, and episodic treatment for occupational injuries and illnesses. The Occupational Health Registered Nurse works within standing orders and follows established protocols to ensure employee well-being.
Day-to-day duties include administering professional nursing care to sick or injured employees, performing and evaluating clinical and diagnostic tests, and assisting the plant physician in minor surgical procedures. You will also interview and document medical histories, maintain accurate medical records, and perform physical exams as needed.
You will collaborate closely with the Health Services team and other departments to promote plant wellness programs and ensure a safe working environment. The role requires maintaining equipment and supplies while upholding high standards of care and professionalism when interacting with health services customers.
This PRN/per diem position offers flexible scheduling with shifts arranged in advance based on plant needs and your availability. It provides an opportunity to develop specialized expertise in occupational health nursing within a dynamic industrial setting while contributing to GM’s commitment to employee health and safety.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing
- Valid state nursing license
- 2 years of prior nursing experience required
- Proficient with electronic medical records and basic computer programs/software
- Flexibility for shift coverage, specifically 2nd shift and weekends
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (preferred)
- ER, Urgent Care, Critical Care, Med/Surg, or Occupational Health experience (preferred)
- Certified in Healthcare Provider CPR/AED (preferred)
