Join a fast-paced medical office environment as a Laboratory Office Assistant with a well-known dermatology company. We are committed to providing the best experience and care for our patients.

In this role, you will handle data entry and create medical records in the EMR system while communicating with referring clinics regarding specimen and paperwork issues. You will report patient results to referring clinics and state agencies when necessary.

You will manage send-out consultations according to insurance guidelines or direction from the pathologist, and ship send-out cases and supplies as needed. Maintaining a document historical reference library of pathology and gross reports is also part of the daily routine.

Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of medical terminology, grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Knowledge of department priorities, policies, and office practices
  • Knowledge of managed health care environment
  • Proficient knowledge of computer software programs including Microsoft Office and basic office equipment
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to handle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Able to research information, problem solve, and communicate ideas clearly and concisely
  • Use of basic math, calculations, and percentages

Responsibilities

  • Perform data entry and create medical records in the EMR system
  • Communicate with referring clinics regarding specimen and paperwork issues
  • Report patient results to referring clinics and state agencies as necessary
  • Manage send-out consultations according to insurance and/or direction from the pathologist
  • Ship send-out cases and supplies as needed
  • Maintain a document historical reference library of pathology reports and gross reports
  • Allocate cases to pathologists
  • Answer phone and fax messages for the department
