About this role
Come join the OBGYN team at the Adult Outpatient Pavilion providing patient-centered care across the lifespan for GYN health, pregnancy, and postpartum. This role requires no weekends, holidays, nights, or on-call shifts, with clinic hours Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm.
The Clinical Nurse III demonstrates clinical knowledge at the unit level and applies it to the OBGYN patient population. This role anticipates changes in patient situations, intervenes appropriately, and delivers and accurately documents direct, age-specific care.
The clinic includes a diverse team of CMAs, LPNs, RNs, Sonographers, Nurse Practitioners, Physicians, and Certified Nurse Midwives. Some providers have niche specialties in family planning, addiction medicine, high risk needs, and abortion services.
This role provides direction, education, and serves as a role model in a clinical setting. It involves organizing work and delegating to others, dedicated to providing the highest quality of care in a safe environment.
Requirements
- Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state (required for hire).
- Current RN licensure in Virginia and AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent (required for continued employment).
- Three years of clinical experience (required for Clinical Nurse III level).
- Diploma or Associate's Degree from a professional nursing program recognized by the state's Board of Nursing.
- If no BSN, enrollment in an approved RN to BSN program within two years of start date and completion within five years.
- Preferred: Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or higher) from an accredited program.
- Preferred: Certification in specialty area.
Responsibilities
- Assist the health care team with prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort.
- Anticipate changes in patient situations and intervene appropriately.
- Provide direction, education, and serve as a role model in a clinical setting.
- Deliver and accurately document direct, age-specific care based on medical orders and a multidisciplinary plan.
- Safely administer prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and/or interactions.
- Organize work and delegate and supervise other team members (RNs, LPNs, Care Partners, Unit Secretaries) in carrying out assignments.
- Follow documented physician/licensed independent provider orders and practice within the boundaries of nursing regulations.
