About this role

This Assistant Professor position combines clinical and teaching components. Clinical duties include dermatopathology, general surgical pathology as well as specialty, on-call rotation, and may include multiple site assignments. Teaching involves both classroom instruction and clinical setting mentoring and education of medical students and residents.

The pathologist will perform dermatopathology and general surgical pathology services, participate in on-call rotation, and may work across multiple clinical sites. Teaching duties include delivering classroom instruction and providing hands-on mentoring to medical students and residents in clinical settings.

The position is based at the Marshall University School of Medicine, collaborating with pathology faculty and residents. The department supports a collegial academic environment that encourages clinical research and professional development. Faculty work closely with medical students and residents in both teaching and clinical capacities.

Requirements

  • Medical degree (MD) or foreign equivalent.
  • Completion of a pathology residency program.
  • Completion of a dermatopathology fellowship.
  • Ability to obtain a West Virginia medical license.
  • Anatomic Pathology board certification (required).
  • Dermatopathology certification (preferred).
  • Anatomic Clinical Pathology certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical duties including dermatopathology, general surgical pathology, and specialty pathology work.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for pathology coverage.
  • Deliver classroom instruction to medical students and residents.
  • Provide clinical mentoring and education to residents and medical students in clinical settings.
  • Participate in clinical research as encouraged by the department.
  • Manage multiple site assignments as required.
