About this role

We are seeking a dedicated, skilled Theatre Nurse to ensure efficient maintenance and smooth operation of the Operating Room (OR). The successful candidate will be accountable for delivering high-quality patient care. They will support surgical teams in line with the Theatre Nurse in Charge.

Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient working environment through teamwork and proper preparation of theatre areas. Ensure patient safety by organising the operating room, maintaining aseptic technique, and upholding confidentiality while acting as a patient advocate. Prepare operating rooms for procedures with all instruments and equipment sterile and ready.

Demonstrate strong communication skills and sound clinical decision-making during surgeries. Assist and support in the PACU when required and respond effectively to emergencies, including Code Blue protocols. Ensure accurate labelling and handling of specimens for investigations.

Provide necessary instruments and equipment for various surgical procedures and collaborate with CSSD to maintain infection prevention and control standards. Ensure an adequate supply of sterile linen and equipment in the theatre. Be knowledgeable across all theatre areas, including pre-operative assessment and patient handover.

Work collaboratively to maintain a safe, compliant, and medico-legal environment. Uphold high standards in intra-operative care, recovery, and teamwork with surgical teams.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Theatre Nursing (required)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ current full-time experience as an Operating Theatre Nurse (OTN)
  • Strong clinical, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and sound clinical decision-making
  • Knowledgeable across all theatre areas, including pre-operative assessment, intra-operative care, and recovery
